One Morning In Texas

By Maddie

Good morning, everyone. It's January 19th, 2010. According to one of the stupidest things I've ever read, January 19th, 2009, was the Most Depressing Day in History. While we can all agree that this is total bullshit (March 7th, 2003, anyone?), I'm still glad that it's not 2009 anymore. Any year that devotes 43% of its time to talking about Jon Gosselin is a year I want no part of.

Happy Belated Birthday/ R.I.P
Yesterday was Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. I hope everyone acted accordingly. I celebrated by crying for 24 straight hours, but I guess that's how I spend the majority of my time anyway.

Howard Dean was fist pumping long before the cast of Jersey Shore got their first spray-on tans, and on this day in 2004, he pumped longer and harder than anyone could have imagined.

Yes, today marks the sixth anniversary of the "Dean Scream," also known as "The Time the Media Single-Handedly Ruined a Political Career," also known as the worst day of our lives. Watch now and wonder why anyone gave a shit all over again.

Love Won't Bring Me Down
I love this song by Little Joy, mostly because I would do horrible, unspeakable things to be with Fabrizio Moretti, but also because it's good. With a title like "Brand New Start," you can see why it's a fitting way to begin your morning. It's a brand new day, OYIT. Let's put down the cheese, pick up our dignity, and try to make the most of it.

  1. Howard Dean sucks but not as much as lieberman, reid, nor clinton or obama.

  2. Yea, also The Time the Media Single-Handedly Ruined a Country. Now today is the most depressing day in history remembering how sad I was about the fall of Howard Dean. On the plus side Maddie continues her streak for best GM titles - *kudos*

  3. Thanks Maddie. It's nice to take a trip back in time and remember when Howard Dean "yelled." After that happened I completely lost interest in American politics. Now I only follow the politics of Superman comics.

  4. I went through my journal for January 19, 2009. There were a lot of smudges from tear marks and a clearly long rant about the fall of Howard Dean. This entire post just summarized how awful 2009 was for me. Thanks Maddie.

  5. what a great post. it seems everyone took something special away from it - me? i got curious enough to look up fabrizio moretti and am grateful i did! oh my!

  6. Thank you for making me remember the second worst day of my life in 2004. Actually the day itself was fine because I heard the speech he gave while driving to Missouri FROM Iowa that night and was still hopeful he could rebound in NH. Then the next few days I saw "videos" that really talked some sense into me.
