Chillin' on a Monday

By Jake

I know it's Monday, but if your weekend was anything like mine, then you could use some serious chill out time today. How does this have anything to do with the standard Good Morning (or GM) article, you may be asking yourself. Well, this particular GM will focus on relaxation and the activity of chilling.

One of the best ways to chill out is by listening to cool music. Here are five music videos by Chillwave or Glo-fi (and probably other equally ridiculous genre names) artists. These videos will help you relax and, if you're on hallucinogenics, trip you the fuck out. You may want to consider smoking a joint for breakfast as you watch these. I'll leave that up to you, though.

Update: That Yubby widget didn't load, so I just replaced it with an Animal Collective video that was part of that channel.

Relaxation Technique
Today's relaxation technique comes all the way from the Mayo Clinic. Is it just me or do you think of sandwiches when you hear the name of that clinic? The particular type of relaxation we'll be learning about is Autogenic relaxation.

Autogenic means something that comes from within you. In this relaxation technique, you use both visual imagery and body awareness to reduce stress. You repeat words or suggestions in your mind to help you relax and reduce muscle tension. You may imagine a peaceful place and then focus on controlled, relaxing breathing, slowing your heart rate, or feeling different physical sensations, such as relaxing each arm or leg one by one.

Just reading that made me feel relaxed.

My last ditch relaxation advice to you would be to get your hands on some muscle relaxers. You know what would be fun to do on muscle relaxers? Everything.

  5. Yes, LWM and today's GM are similar themes. Both talk about marijuana and tripping.
