Untertainment Weakly (9-16-2011)

By Jake

ABC Family has canceled "Nine Lives of Chloe King," whatever that is.

Some article on Slate.com says that 3-D movies are dead.

FX has picked up an animated series from 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' writers and producers Rob Rosell, Scott Marder and David Hornsby.

The Hank Azaria, Natasha Leggero and Al Madrigal show "Free Agents" debuted with a decent rating. I saw it and it was pretty good.

JJ Abrams is confirmed for "Star Trek 2." Finally, another "Star Trek" movie!

Trey Parker and Matt Stone want to do a "Book of Mormon" movie. I'd love to see that, because I'll probably never see the play.

"Sex in the City" prequel series is heading to the CW. I guess the CW is a television network, but it's not like anybody knows that.

Sarah Chalke is joining "Cougar Town," which is a show about a zoo that only houses cougars.

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi's sitcom pilot has been picked up by NBC. Hey, give NBC credit for at least trying to develop real shows that might draw ratings instead of running nothing but bullshit reality shows.

Movies Out Today
Straw Dogs - This is a remake. Need I say more to disuade you from seeing this? I certainly hope not. I've seen the trailer for this film and it looks very bad.

I Don't Know How She Does It - Sarah Jessica Parker stars as a confused woman who triess to learn how "she" does "it." It's a mystery!

Drive - Bub's favorite actor Ryan Gosling stars in this film about a stunt driver who moonlights as a getaway driver. If there's one thing you can expect from this film it is driving. See this if you like driving or if you are a car.

Other Thoughts
I watched "From Dusk Til Dawn" yesterday and I think I am finally ready to admit that I enjoy it. The first half and second have put together seem very disjointed, but both halves are good. The last 50 minutes are pretty beserk, what with all of the vampires. Also, bought and watched "Fright Night" (not the remake, obviously) a couple days ago. That's a really great flick.

  1. It's ironic given how often Ryan Gosling was tagged on this site (and the effort led by Bub) for me to become the one who truly, truly loves him.

Is that picture Whitney Cummings? You didn't mention her new show in the news.

  2. It's Natasha Leggero! Whitney Cummings has a new TV show out too. I haven't watched it yet, but I'll give it a shot.

  3. It's good to know another remake is on the horizon in Hollywood. It would be SO terrifying to see something original.
