Untertainment Weakly (11-4-11)

Fox is bringing “In Living Color” back.  Where is “Herman’s Head”?

Zooey Deschannel and Ben Gibbard have split.

The new “Beavis & Butt-head” had a strong audience of 3 million viewers.

Shows from the CW network are coming to HULU.  Now nobody can watch them there, too.

FX has renewed “American Horror Story” for a second season.

Fox has upped the order of season 2 of “Bob’s Burgers” from 13 episodes to 22.

Netflix and Amazon have made a deal with ABC to renew the programs currently available and bring in some new programs.  Now you don’t have to race to finish “Melissa and Joey.”

Amanda Seyfried is in talks for the Linda Lovelace biopic that was once a role for Lindsay Lohan.

Bill Paxton is in talks to direct a kung-fu film.  Weirdest news of the week.

ABC has given full season orders to “Happy Endings,” “Last Man Standing” and “Once Upon a Time.”

Movies Out Today
Tower Heist - “Tower Heist” is what you would call a movie as a non-descript title during production before a creative person has thought of a better name.  It’s like how “Almost Famous” was known as “Untitled Cameron Crowe Project” and not changed until right before it was released.  Nobody ever changed “Tower Heist” to anything better, but that will not stop Brett Ratner from making a serviceable, but not that good, film.  Hey, it’s what he does.  This is the man who brought us the “Rush Hour” trilogy, “Red Dragon” and “X-Men: The Last Stand.”  What do all of those movies have in common?  They are all just okay--not that good, but not that bad.  “Tower Heist” has a pretty good cast: Ben Stiller, Eddie Murphy, Matthew Broderick, Judd Hirsch and Tea Leoni.  It seems like it has to be a big hit.  It’s even rated PG-13, which means you can take your 11-year-old  mentally disabled neighbor.

A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas - Look, you already know if you’re going to see this or if you’re staying home and watching Kurasawa’s films.  This film will probably feature lots of puking and pooping.  I tried to watch the second H&K film, but turned it off after 10 minutes due to all of the gross out humor, of which I am not a fan.  I just don’t find most of it funny.  I thought the “Harold and Kumar go to White Castle” was okay.  I was probably incredibly high when I saw it.  See this if you are a stoned Christian looking for a way to celebrate Christman, but not soberly.

Other Thoughts
I have been playing through “Dead Rising” for a second time and re-watching episodes of “Psych” on Netflix.  If you haven’t seen “Psych” it is probably worth a watch.  I really enjoy it.  It’s really funny and they solve crimes, which, I would like to think, describes me, too.

  2. 2 Broke Girls is not one of my favorite shows! It is barely not terrible. I do think it is critisized for things that are not true, though.
